Radon gas linked to lung cancer deaths

Date Published: 01/10/2007 [Source]

Radon is the second-leading cause of lung cancer in the United States, and Kentucky has higher radon levels than most states. Marion County has higher radon levels than other parts of Kentucky. "Basically, all of Kentucky is a little higher than average," said Trent Penn, the environmentalist with the Marion County Health Center.

January is National Radon Action Month, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is encouraging the public to be aware of the risks of radon exposure.
