Phillip Ray Gibson, a radon program coordinator for the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, has been selected to serve on the Haywood Community College governing board.
Gibson was appointed by the Haywood County Board of Education, which interviewed three candidates at their Monday board meeting.
Gibson has worked for the state since 2012, and also runs a Candler-based, real estate business, Gibson Realty LLC. From 2005 to 2012, he was the director of research and community outreach at Warren Wilson College.
"I will first listen and understand where my presence, gifts and service are most applicable," Gibson wrote in a follow-up email. "I look forward to serving in any manner necessary."
