Oregon updates radon map

Date Published: 02/02/2020 [Source]

The Oregon Health Authority has updated maps of where radon is found in the states. OHA is also urging residents to test for radon in their homes. In certain locations, including Pilot Rock, Adams, Athena, Boardman, and Hermiston, free tests are offered by the state.

Radon is a gas that comes from the ground. It is colorless, odorless, and tasteless. It can also cause cancer.

"The only way you know is to test," Radon Awareness Program Manager Curtis Cude said.

OHA's Oregon Radon Awareness Program has a website that has a radon risk map, and also details which zip codes are eligible for free test kits. It is https://www.oregon.gov/oha/ph/HealthyEnvironments/HealthyNeighborhoods/RadonGas/Pages/
