In a recent study, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) found that over 1 in 2 homes in Adams and Morgan Counties have elevated radon levels.
25 to 50% of homes in McDonough County also had high radon levels.
Radon levels can vary not only from county to county, but also from house to house. One professional radon tester had a client whose home measured 100 pCi/L (25 times the EPA recommended action level) while their neighbor had less than 4 pCi/L.
