Reducing radon exposure from your water supply

Date Published: 07/07/2008 [Source]

Everybody should test their home for the presence of radon. If results indicate an elevated count, your water should be evaluated. Radon enters buildings through cracks and holes in the foundation and also through well water and escapes once the water is exposed to air.

Breathing in radon gas increases your risk of getting lung cancer. Drinking water contaminated by dissolved radon spreads throughout the bloodstream, potentially causing liver, stomach or intestinal cancer.
